very slow in opening

we have just upgraded to 2007 and have found that it is very slow - in
particular

1. Time to open a 600 activity plan is around 2 to 3 minutes.
2. Scrolling thru the chart bars i.e. move left to right using the scroll
arrow is very slow.
3. Macros that which were very quick under 2000 are very slow in 2007.

Turning off the 3-D display of gantt chart bars has improved the speed a
little [but not enough]

Can anyone suggest what else we can try?

Keep running update until you have all the service packs and other fixes
installed. Also, remember the program is converting formats as you open the
files for the first time.

I do remember tis from when P2007 was released in Sept 07. It seems to have
gone away over time.
