Even with reference books, and ideas from you folks,
I still can not fique out the following.
1. How to connect the VCR to my laptop.
2. Do I need to use Movie Maker then import
to PP?

Any addtional help is appreciated.

What is the make and model of your laptop? Maybe it doesn't have what you need.

What do you want to do once you have connected the VCR? Are you trying to
record a presentation to tape?

Sonia,
I have a new Dell 9100.
What I want to do is put a video clip from a VCR tape
into a PP presentation. Thanks

Ah. You need to capture the contents of the tape to a digital file, i.e.,
video. So, you need to have TV/Video-In capability. I can't find the 9100 on
the Dell site, but I do see the 9200. It has S-Video-Out, but I don't see a
Video-In capability. For example, my Toshiba Qosmio laptop has a S-Video In
port and Composite and Coax In ports.

Maybe someone else can recommend what equipment you need, but if it's a one time
need, I might call a junior college video department to see if they could help
you.
