View actual date of received email not Today, Yesterday, etc

How can I get entourage 2004 to display the date my email was
received. I've created custom views etc.
I don't want it to say Today, Yesterday, Friday etc. I want it to
display the actual date like it does in outlook 12/17/07 5:32pm, etc.
It's so frustrating. I'm beginning to think it's not possible since I
can't find an answer anywhere. Thanks

You can turn off the Today, Yesterday etc. in Entourage Preferences -->
General --> Uncheck "Use relative dates in lists (Today, Yesterday)"

BUT....I'm not sure that will give you what you want. Entourage does display
the date after the first few days, but doesn't sorting by Sent give you what
you want the newest or oldest at the top of the list?

I haven't used Outlook, but I don't get what is bothering you. Maybe if you
could explain your problem more fully, we could offer a better option.

You mentioned in your offlist message:
I have to look at a calendar many times when I¹m trying to find an email.

Can you explain that more fully?

I get a large volume of email. Most of the time I know approximately
when I received it and like to search by simply looking at the date
received or sometimes I like to check the date when I sent something.
I can't remember all the names of people I exchange email with so for
me it's easier to look at the date. I don't like seeing the fields
that say Today, Yesterday etc. In one of my folder where I save older
email it says, this week, last week, last month etc. I don't like
that either. Just the date is what I'm looking for.

I changed the preview pane to be below the list and unchecked the sort
in groups and this seems to give me what I want. I also turned off
the preferences to include simple dates. Thanks

I'm glad you found a view that works for you. It's hard to make changes for
a new application and when you can find a way that has worked for you, it's
nice to be able to stick with that method.
