Viewing new emails.

When new mail is received, and routed to a folder, by a rule, the folder
does not automatically open. This means that if the folder is 4 or 5 levels
down I have to drill down the folder list to view the email.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can make Entourage open the folder
that the new message is routed to?

Thanks!

I don't see why you'd want folders to start opening themselves, that seems
chaotic. Look into Custom Views, which can be configured to show you all
unread email.

What would happen if you received dozens of messages? Would you want several
folders open? You can see by the bold number of unread messages in any
folder. You can use sounds to notify you of specific mail. See this page for
using custom sounds with Entourage. You can even create your own sounds or
use computer voices to announce your mail. For example, you could have the
AppleScript say ³Mail from Dad².

You might want to consider using a Custom Mail View. You can set it to view
all new mail based on the criteria you set. One of the default views with
Entourage 2008 is "Sent directly to me". This will show mail addressed to
you and not to a list.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have been using this feature for many years (Outlook), and I love it.

i am having the same problem as anthony. i dont know what Entourage is. i
use 2007. I have experimented with custom views to filter for unread, but i
can only seem to create one for each folder. Is there a way to create a view
that lists all unread mail in all folders?
