Virus? Files rapidly disappearing.

A few weeks ago I noticed that I would get an error message telling me
that I could not empty the "Deleted Items" folder. I let it go for
awhile and then noticed that everytime I would quit the program (the
default setting was to empty this folder before shutting down) I would
get an error message telling me that Entourage had unexpectantly quit
for an unknown reason. This concerned me so I went into the "Deleted
Items" folder to get rid of the offending email and found that I would
get some emails that would not show up but instead occupied a space
that was simply shading, no text. I then tried to select all in that
folder to delete and Entourage unexpectantly quit again. Wanting to
remove this I decided to do an Advanced Rebuilding of the Database. The
first time I did this it fixed this problem. But then I noticed that
all of 'Notes" files were gone. I did another Advanced Rebuild and
they showed up with one note missing. It was not an important note and
everything else seemed to work very well, in fact it was much faster
as was expected. Now I have noticed that a different folder that was
full of archived emails that I have named "pending receipts" shows
that same shading indicating missing emails as before where emails
should be listed. The error message now is "could not open that
feature. An unknown error (4359) occurred". I am fearful that this is
a virus and want to stop any more loss of files. I have a backups
before the first rebuilding took place and I have an older backup that
is in a different city, state than I am right now, but is before I had
problems.

Please advise, looking for help with this.

Whomever might have a similar problem with this: I fixed it by doing
the following:

Downloaded latest version of office, I was operating with office
10.1.2 and I upgraded to 10.1.5. After upgrade I had to do an advanced
database rebuild twice which fixed all problems. Runs beautifully.
