Visual C++ Runtime errors

Whenever I load Outlook 2002 (I'm running Windows XP pack 1) I get a message
that says, 'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library' as the title of the error
box, that contains the text, 'Runtime Error! Program [path to program] This
application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.' I'm
at a loss what to do. Should I uninstall Outlook, but then what would happen
to all the data in it?
