vlookup formula appearing as formula

I am doin ga vlookup and it keep sshowing up in the cell
as a written formula and not the value.

I have tried formatting as text and general and then
redoing and still appears in formula format.

What is going on here.

Hi Todd,

Try pressing the Control key and the back-tick (next to the number one
key). That's CTRL+`

Did you include the = sign in front of the vlookup
expression?

Thanks it worked - but what causes and how does your fix
work.

That is the shortcut key for Tools>Options>View "Window Options" Formula

Someone must have turned on the Formulas View.
