vlookup lookup format issues

HI,

I have a vlookup table that the lookup value has some kind of forma
issue that keeps the lookup from working and gives me a #N/A error.
The corresponding values are in the reference table. If I type ove
the value then magically the vlookup works. I have tried using TRIM
CLEAN to rid any unseen characters that are preventing the vlookup t
work, but to no avail. Retyping the values is not an option as this i
a file I parse from UNIX to a *.txt file and I have usually tens o
thousands of values to look up.

Any ideas

post your formula and the values of these cells which do not work (are
they numbers?).
