VLOOKUP return incorrect values

In your vendor's price list is the same product listed in
more than one row? If so, what fields of information are
included in each row? ID, price, date of price?

Perhaps you can show how your data are arranged. Instead of a VLookup
formula, the INDEX/MATCH might be a solution.

Following is row 31 from the pricing worksheet table
A B C
0 a6661 USF #6661 PTD. STEEL TRAFFIC TYPE G GRATE

D E
$1,257.00 $0.00
C contains =VLOOKUP(B31,'\\Acfl1\Report
Share\Quotes\CODES.xls'!LOOK_UP_FOR_QUOTE,2,FALSE)

D contains =VLOOKUP(B31,'\\Acfl1\Report
Share\Quotes\CODES.xls'!LOOK_UP_FOR_QUOTE,3,FALSE)

E is just B*D

The CODES worksheet is set up with the following 4 columns: CODE,
LOOK_UP_FOR_QUOTE, DESCRIPTION, and RETAIL.

In the RETAIL column I have: =VLOOKUP(A40,'\\Acfl1\Sales\Sales
Share\HARDWARE PRICES 2004.xls'!table,4,FALSE) where HARDWARE PRICES 2004 is
the vendor's price list.

As stated in my earlier post, the retail prices in the HARDWARE PRICES 2004
have been changed twice this year by simply editing the cell corresponding
with the item number. But what I don't understand is why, or even how, would
the older prices be brought into the pricing worksheet?

Thanks for all your input!! This is the first time I have used this method
of getting information, and I think it is fantastic.

Hi, JG

Still a bit confusing to me. If your data is
not "sensitive" and it is less than 3 MB, you can send me
the workbooks at (e-mail address removed) and I will take
at look at them with you.
