I've never found a consistently good solution to the problem, but from
experience it seems that VLOOKUP is more comfortable with numbers than with
numbers formatted as text. So I would make sure that the part numbers are
formatted as numbers in both locations (for appearance, you can format them
to avoid separators such as commas and decimals).
