Hello, is anyone use entourage both in office and at home?
I used to do that with outlook using VPN while at home.
Is there anyway I can do that with entourage?
If you are using Microsoft Entourage 2004 with an Exchange server, you may
not need to use VPN for most functions. Since you mention connecting with
Outlook on Windows, I'll assume that you are using Exchange.
To connect Entourage without using VPN, you need to see if you can open up
Outlook Web Access (OWA) from home in a Web browser. If you can, you can use
the same URL for OWA in the Entourage "Exchange server" account settings.
You may also be able to substitute that name in the "Public Folders server"
field under the Advanced tab.
So, for example, if your OWA server can be accessed from home as
"owa.mycorp.com" then you could try to use Entourage configured with:
* Exchange server: owa.mycorp.com (and you'll probably need to turn on the
"DAV service requires SSL" checkbox)
* Public Folders server: owa.mycorp.com/public (also turn on SSL here)
You should check with your organization to make sure that it is acceptable
to check your mail at home in this way.
A benefit of setting up Entourage this way if you have a laptop is that --
in most cases -- it should work both in the office and at home without any
changes. The default settings that Entourage 2004 discovers for you don't
let you do that, unfortunately, but do make a best attempt to get you
connected to your Exchange account.
