Wandering Cursor

Can anyone out there help?
I bought a lap top. Whenever I start to write anything
the cursor either buries itself in text I have already
written half way up the page ect the text or it
disappears entirely.
So its either hunt for the cursor and corre (example
above)

as I was .... correct the text or reinsert cursor in
correct place.


Please can anyone help ??

Does you laptop have a touch pad or a secondary pointer in the middle of the
keys? If your typing and your thumbs or palms grace the edge of the pad, it
could cause the cursor to wander around?

At first I thought it was me but Im very careful not to
touch anything but the keys. Any other suggestions.
