Wav file sizes.

Thanks to you very helpful gentlemen I have been alble to isolate a .wav file
from within a Power Point presentatoin that was mailed to me. The music I
have isolated is a complete piece (Celine Dion I'm Alive) and it is only
407K. If I try to create another .wav file of my own making it is always
about 18 mb. How did the originator of the presentation from which I have
borrowed the music get his down to 407K?

Charlie,
If you want it to be smaller you will have to live with less quality. I know
you can reduce the size using the built-in sound recorder from Windows. If
you save your wav file in say 8000 Khz 8 bit mono that should reduce it
considerably.
There are many free music editing programs on the web which allow you to
reduce the size.

You can also use Nero Wave editor or a similar program.

Thanks Luc I will go and explore those free programs but I hear what you say
about files size and that makes sense and is very helpful
