WBS numbering lost when copying tasks from one file into another

Hey, I like to create a master ms project file that encompasses
certain tasks. Thus, I just copied the relevant tasks out of their
orginal file and inserted them into a new file. The problem is now,
that some tasks have lost their numbering. Has anyone an idea how to
solve this issue? Cheers, and kind regards from Frankfurt, Germany.

joern,
The WBS field in project is a dual field. That is, Project will
automatically populate it based on the hierarchy, but the user can
overwrite that data with manual entries. When you copy and paste the
tasks into a new file, Project is simply populating the new file
according to the structure. If you want to preserve your original WBS, I
suggest you copy it to a spare text field before doing copy and paste
into a new file. Then, once the new file is populated with tasks, copy
the saved WBS structure to the normal WBS field in the new file.
