Weird email addresses

I went to send an email and typed the first few letters of a name and tons
of people I don't know appeared in the "helpful box" - but those same email
names and addresses ARE NOT in my address book.

Any ideas on how to remove this - I'm guessing - 'virus'?

Anybody?

Thanks.

I suspect the adresses are coming from the Entourage cache. These are
addresses of people you wrote to or received e-mails from.

Here is what the help says about this:
Change settings for the recently used address list
1. On the Entourage menu, click Preferences.
2. Under Mail & News Preferences, click Compose.
3. Under Recent Addresses, do one of the following:
• To turn the recently used address list on or off, select or clear the
Display a list of recently used addresses when addressing messages check
box.
• To remove all entries from the recently used address list, click
Clear List. As you send and receive messages, the recently used address
list will fill with new entTip If you send and receive many messages,
your list might become cluttered with unneeded addresses. One way to
minimize this effect is to make sure that Junk E-Mail Protection is turned
on. Senders of messages that Entourage classifies as junk are not added to
the recently used address list.

You can easily remove addresses from there.

THANKS Corentin. I'm betting those names came from junk mail. I turned it
all off in preferences. I hope that solves the problem.

Just after I posted my message my whole computer failed. It's only working
now on a VERY limited basis. Apple is suppose to replace the motherboard
for the second time.

Thanks for your input - - -

It should at least clean up the list a bit ;-))
