Weird Noise Sound

I put up this topic got no response, gonna try again.

Had a client over today, and he asked, are you a bass player?

That's because from the other side of the room, he heard a loud thump sound,
which is the sound I get when Entourage is done downloading some e mail.

I have all sounds disabled in system preferences, so any ideas on this
appreciated. Thanks!

In the Entourage General Preferences, have you tried enabling "No Mail
Sound"?

Are you sure? Isn't that just another sound to let you know you have
received no mail?

You're right, sorry. I hadn't actually tried it out. That loud thump noise
doesn't sound like the default notification sound. Could it be the sound of
an error of some sort? (I get a kind of thumping noise if I try to do
something the system doesn't want done.)

Could be an error, although usually comes after mail is received. Question
is how to disable the annoying sound?
