What are the best options for extending battery life in a laptop

Hi,

I have a laptop and I use it to edit long documents during my trips. I would
like to know what the best suite of options are for extending battery life:
spelling, autoformat, assistants, etc. I know that disabling those extend the
battery life, but are there any other features that consume power without
noticing?

Any suggestion?
