WHAT ARE THE PUSH PINS FOR!?!?!?!? ;-)

Does anyone know what those damn little push pins do? Usually see them in
message (dialogue) boxes. In Outlook, there is one in the lower right
corner of the "Send/Receive Status/Progress" dialogue box. And I've seen
them in other programs as well, MS Streets & Trips for one. When they are
clicked, it seems like the only thing it does is change the position of the
pushpin. I've looked through help files and can't find anything on them.
This is driving me crazy. They have to be there for a reason, don't they?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated,

don't stress!

it is just a function which allows you to resize the
window of the program.

The pushpins in Outlook are very different from the pushpins in MS Streets &
Trips. In Outlook, they "nail down" the view so that it stays open. In
S&T, they mark locations on a map.
