What can I do to keep Word and Excel from freezing up while openi.

We have users who freeze up when they are trying to open a file in a
networked drive in Office 2000. Not all users are having this problem. We
have tried the information posted on mvps.org website with the template,
registry key, network cable etc. Is there anything on this with maybe SP3
can take care of this issue?

Try tuning down your hardware accelerator to see if the problem is
related to your video driver...which many FREEZING problem are.
That...or did you reset your normal.dot?

Diane,

I had tried replacing the normal.dot and I even tried the hardware
accelerator option. I have installed Office 2000 SP3 and this seems to have
taken care of the problem.

I found this information about the fix at the following site.
