What does it take to get a discussion shut down around here?

I've flagged the offensive thread several times and it appears to
still be running. Does anyone moderate this board?

1. Which threads are offensive to you?

2. How did you "flag" them?

3. This isn't a "board", there are no "moderators", and threads cannot
be "shut down". This is Usenet, where there is no censorship
what-so-ever.

Sounds like you need to learn about Usenet, so here are some links:

The bobandcarole thread.
2. How did you "flag" them?
Under "more options, " I clicked on 'report this message," which
resulted in only an automated reply.

I don't believe in censorship, and I believe the poster has a right to
post on boards relating to the subject matter. However, I don't
believe defamatory, homophobic, and inflammatory posts belong on the
Entourage board - i'ts misposted and out of place.

Yes I am not familiar with the difference but will check it out.

The bobandcarole thread.

I see no thread here with "bob" in the subject. Are you sure you are
talking about a thread in this news group
(microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage)?

That must be a Google Groups thing. I'm not familiar with Google
Groups (I use Unison <http://www.panic.com/unison/>). Anyhow I fail to
see what Google would be able to do about it - Usenet is uncensored.
Maybe someone else will have an answer as to what Google does when you
make such a report.

It's just something you have to deal with. Usenet isn't moderated or
censored by any single entity. Posts to Usenet are permanent - they
are etched in place forever. Just ignore them if they bother you.

Sounds good.

I don¹t see the message either.

I'm talking about the Sexual Fascism and Mark Foley thread posted by
the troll BobandCarole.

Ah - that's why I don't see it. I kill any post with the word "sexual"
in the subject. ; ) I suggest you do the same.

That kind of questionable posting doesn't appear very often in this
forum - at least as far as I've noticed.
