Firstly, please remember to ask the message in the body of the message, not
just in the subject line.

In a formula such as =Sheet2!B8 the exclamation mark separates the sheet
name from the cell reference on that page.

In a formula "!" is the separator between a sheet name and a cell
reference. You will notice it occurs when the cell reference is on a
different worksheet.
