What Happened To My Preview Pane In Notes

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop My preview pane in Notes disappeared. The open is checked under View but GRAYED out. How to reactivate it. Thank you.

My preview pane in Notes disappeared. The open is checked under View
but GRAYED out. How to reactivate it. Thank you.

This doesn't appear to be available in Entourage 2008. At least, I don't
see any way to enable a preview pane for Notes.
