what is the alternate equation editor i can use in word 2003?

I got a message saying I could use an alternate piece of software for editing
equations in word 2003, rather than equation editor 3.0. Does anyone know
what this software is, where I can get it and whether it is better?

Probably that you can go to dessci.com and download MathType for a free
30-day trial. If you choose not to buy, you will be left with MathType
Lite. Equation Editor is a watered-down version of MathType Lite, but built
by the same company (Design Science), so yes, MT and MT Lite should be more
powerful versions of Equation Editor.
