Where are the contents of the mail "categories" stored?

I was trying to move items from one category to another, and the items have disappeared. If I knew where to look for them, I could restore them from my backup. I thought (mistakenly, apparently) that when I deleted the name of a category it would only delete the name and not the contents. Perhaps they are somewhere, but I haven't found them yet! I really could use some help! Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm mostly looking for mail. I did check the "None" category and seem to be having some luck. I did find that the events were still there on the calendar, though no longer color-coded. If the data is still on my computer, I can muddle through and locate things eventually. I was just worried that they were gone forever and was hoping to be able to use my backup to find them, but it seems that won't be necessary. But for future reference, where are those things stored? Your answer might be that it depends upon which type I'm looking for, I suppose.

I appreciate your help!

Entourage stores all it's data in a database.

/Users/[Your User Name]/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008
Identities/Main Identity

Start with this page to learn about the database:

There is a script that will export your notes as a text file. I use it in my
consulting business to help recover data that Entourage cannot export.
Sometimes I find messages stored inside the file for tasks, notes and
events. I can edit those out and then import back into Entourage if the
corruptions isn't too bad. If not, you can see the actual data and use a
search to find something that is truly important.

It says it doesn't work in Leopard, but it's only the unlock all script
that's broken, you have to enter the code for each script, but that's not
too bad.
