Where ELSE does outlook store "contacts"?

We are running Outlook 2003 and we have a question regarding how it manages
contact/email info....

Outlook had a record of a previous email to the address Joe Smith
[email protected]

Joe chnaged his email to [email protected]

I added Joe Smith to my Outlook Contacts.

Now when I type Joe Smith I see two emails: one that shows up as Joe Smith
[email protected] with "<" and ">" surrounding the email address and Joe
Smith [email protected] with "(" and ")" around the email address.

Does Outlook cache the email addresses I send to? If so, how can I clear the
cache?
