Where'd it go

I added News to the Go menu today so that I could access newsgroups.
Earlier this evening I the power went out, and the News selection has
disappeared from the Go menu, and I can't go back and add it again (the
selection isn't available). I tried resetting the menu, but no look. Any
ideas? Back using Mozilla until then, at least for usenet.

Yep, Outlook 2003. I made the change you suggested, though I'm not sure
why Outlook Express was an option and Outlook wasn't. After I initially
added News to the Go menu it worked, it just seems to have completely
disappeared from the Go menu AND from under the Add of Remove Buttons menu.

Yep, that is a common issue. Before Outlook 2003 you could also choose
Outlook as the newsreader. Since Outlook always uses OE as a newsreader
anyway it didn't make any sence to list them both. Unfortunately when you
upgrade it doesn't always set OE correctly as the newsreader and the button
can vanish into nothing. If you follow the instruction on the site I gave
you you should get it right again ;-)

Hi,

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You may need to reset the Menu Bar and/or restart Outlook and/or reboot your
machine in order to complete the process. Not everyone is reporting success
with this method, but try it and see what happens. If all else fails, you
can always create a desktop shortcut to Outlook Express and include the
/outnews switch -- that gives you the same result as accessing the
newsreader via the News command in Outlook.

Hope this helps !!!

Thanks to you and Roady I finally got it working. Fingers crossed, but
I'm optimistic that it will continue to work.

My Best,

James
