Where's the embedded .wav?

I've been charged with changing the audio file on a .pps emailed to me. I
cannot find out how to delete the embedded wave and insert a replacement.
Also, the whole .pps is about 2 megs-40 slides-where is the nearly 2 min long
..wav hiding? It should be about 15-20 mgs in size? The .pps file is
portable-plays on any machine.

First, on what slide does the music start playing when you play the slide show?
In edit mode, go to that slide and look for an icon that looks like a speaker.
If you can't see it zoom out to about 35% and see if the icon has been dragged
off the slide. If not, press the tab key multiple times, each time watching for
the "selection handles". It's possible that the icon is on the slide and has
been covered up. Once you find it, delete it and save the presentation. Run
the show to be sure there is no sound.

Open presentation in PPT (FILE >> OPEN >> located file), so it can be
edited. Look for the small speaker icon - it does not have to be on the live
slide area, it may be off to one side. This is your embedded .wav file. Note
its animation settings and properties before deleting. Insert your new audio
file and set it to the settings and properties noted. Done.

It begins on slide one and plays for the whole presentation. There is no
speaker on slide 1-even zoomed fully out. Tabbing through the fields on slide
1 (3 text boxes) does not reveal any hidden objects.

If you can send it to me, I can look at it. My email address is sonia @

Thanks Troy-I know it should be there-but I sure can't find it-even changed
the background color to make sure it wasn't hiding on the slide. Zoomed out
to 10%-not dragged way off the slide either.

On slide #1 go to Slide Show > Slide Transition. Is there a sound file attached
to the transition?

What Sonia said.... but also..... it could be on an "action setting" > play
sound

The other method would be to look at the animation settings for each slide.
Identify which one has the multimedia PLAY and it is somewhere on that
slide.

Yes-the.wav is shown along with the other prepackaged sounds -but you can't
delete the .wav that plays in that dialog box. It does not appear on action
settings.

Ok-checked EVERY slide for animation settings-there is no sound file listed
on any of them-frame only. The sound is initiated on slide 1, but not
listed-only the text animations. If you preview the slide from the animation
dialog box, the sound file plays-and continues to play-won't stop
actually-until you close PowerPoint completely. But it is not listed on any
of the tabs in the animation settings dialog. Could this be a case of the
..pps being made in an early version? I've opened it in 2000 and 2003 and the
..wav is nowhere to be found, except its listing in Slide Show>Slide
Transition-but it is not editable from there.

Open presentation and do a SAVE AS >> HTML. This will create folder with all
of the assets in the presentation, including the .wav files. Flash files,
..swf, can also be embedded - possibly we are looking for the wrong thing...
