look under format, background and set it to a color. that
color will then be the background when you edit text.
that color will also flood the entire screen unless you
control it with the slide master. if you already have a
colored background, you probably have a picture or color
box set on the slide master. in that case, if you just
set the format, background to a color, you'll be all set.

When I click to edit the text in the text box, I can't see
what I'm typing because the whole text box turns white.
