Whn CD Plays in pres., slides no longer change despite timings se

Wheterh I insert an mp3 file to play in the background while my slide show
runs or have a CD playing, as soon as I set this up the slide show no longer
changes slides. I set it up to start automatically and chnage slides every 6
sec. I tried attaching the music to the master slide as well as the first
slide. Please help! this is for a 50th wedding annv party this weekend.
