Why are email addresses disappearing in my To line?

For some addresses, after I type a comma to move on to the next email
address, the first email address disappears. Outlook remembers it and sends
the email properly. When it's listed in the "Send" box, no email address is
listed either. This only seems to happen with addresses from the "Contacts".
