Why aren't the bullets indenting and changing when I press Tab?

In the past, when I was using a bulleted list and would press the Tab key,
the next bulleted line would indent and use a different bullet style. It is
no longer doing this. Is there a setting that may have been changed by
mistake?

In Word, click on Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type |
check the "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces" box | OK.
