why cant I reload a copied presentation?

When I copy a Powerpoint presentation onto a CD for my students, Powerpoint
refuses to accept it back, says it does not recognise it, even on the same
computer! In File, Permission, the check is 'Unrestricted access' but the
title of the presentation is always in square brackets, which makes me
suspicious. Please help since I am falling very behind with ym schedule
through spending so much time wrestling with this - not to mention nearly 30
CDs!
Many thanks indeed

Steve
Many thanks for your help. My problem is that I have the file on the hard
drive and can load and work with it, no problem. But I want to make 26 copies
of the PP presentation, one for each student, and although I can copy to CD
OK, those CDs wont load the file back onto a computer to be viewed. Have you
any further ideas? Perhaps I am trying to do the impossible, though I find
that hard to believe!

Very possible.

1) Save your presentation to your hard drive.

Now here we need to note that you need to have built the presentation
correctly, with all the linked materials placed into the same folder as the
PPT file prior to inserting them into PowerPoint. This will keep the links
portable. At this point, try to reopen the presentation on your computer,
did it open?

2) Copy the entire folder to a CD (only one at this point)

3) Copy the entire folder from the CD onto the student's computer

Again we should make a note that files copied from a CD are always 'Read
only'. You do not have to change any of these, but if they are to make
changes to the file, they will need to rename that file to save it.

But for the purpose of troubleshooting, copy the folder onto your own
computer (in a new location) and see if you can open the new PPT file in the
new folder.

4) Make sure all the computer's (yours and the student's) are current on
their updates (yes, including the really big ones). PowerPoint needs these
to work correctly.

It does!!!! Brilliant. I am so grateful. Students clearly need to make a
folder and copy from CD onto their computer. Not sure what those who simply
want a CD to take home, will do, but among them is a whizz kid from Indonesia
and maybe she will solve it! I will now trymaking another CD from the new
copy and see what happens. Thank you again, you have no idea how fraught I
have become over this. Many blessings on you
