Why can't I see my image when I insert it (white box outlined) MS

Haven't had problems with this before. When I insert image, the white
graphics box shows up, but can't see the visible image. Checked the "Format"
picture, everything looks fine. Also checked the "Bring Forward" feature, but
this didn't resolve the problem. Doesn't work with images from files or Clip
Art. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?
