why can't we block whole domain names-cut down junk

I waste so much time every day blocking and deleting junk mail, much of it is
sent from the same places.
If I could block domain names it would save a lot of time.

None of my spam comes from known domain names; most comes from anonymous
IP addresses (of probably infected spambots). I cannot see how blocking
domain names would help in any way.
