Why do my pictures dissapear when scrolled off the screen?

They are not visble when pasted in, until i resize by a fraction, but then
will dissapear if scrolled off the screen area. I have tried taking off
picture placeholders, viewing in all modes etc. They will only stay visible
when i generate a web preview, very annoying when trying to do assignments.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, cichrook. Try reducing or turning off hardware acceleration in Start |
Control Panel | Display | Advanced.

I'm having the same problem in Word 2003. When insering a picture, I only get
the picture's "handles" but can make the picture appear by clicking the RESET
on the picture toolbar. However, when scrolling the picture off the screen
and returning to it, the picture is gone and, upon in mouse click in the same
area, only the "handles" return. Have done what friend "garfield-n-odie"
suggested without success.

I had solved my problem and kept the acceleration high and able to view the
pictures, If you have the same card as mine, ATI Radeon 9600PRO, go to ATI
site to use their CAT UNINSTALL to uninstall, then reinstall the latest
driver issued on January. One other person just solved his problem doing the
same, the first restart might not work, after the 2nd or the 3rd, it should.
