why does a number appear again an event in cal view

Hi can anyone please explain when I create n event and then view my calendar in month view why the events I have created have a number in front of them – what is this number –sorry new to Mac and entourage

You're seeing the time of the event. I'm not sure if changing the Mac's
system settings will hide the AM/PM but you should be seeing that or
possibly Entourage is reflecting system settings to show 24-hour format.
