Why does flagging a message in Entourage 2008take 5–10 seconds?

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: imap

I'm finally getting settled into Entourage 2008. However, one major annoyance remains: Flagging a message (i.e. setting a "To Do" in '08 parlance) takes up to 10 seconds for a single message. Setting a flag in Entourage 2004 was instantaneous. Rebuilding Entourage's database did not improve the situation.

Has anyone else run into this problem, or have any ideas if there's some setting I can tweak to fix it?

It's instantaneous for me in both POP and IMAP. Try this create a new
Identity in Entourage. Enter your IMAP account. Test. If it's improved there
was something in your old database that did not get fixed by rebuilding. If
it's the same report back.

Thanks for the troubleshooting tip. I setup a new Identity and then setup one of my smaller IMAP accounts. Flagging a message worked as expected.

I'm not too thrilled at the prospect of recreating all of my accounts and settings in a new Identity.

You can drag over your Rules and Sigs files. You will have to open each rule
to reset the folder ID.

Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update fixed this problem for me!

WARNING: I just got back from a meeting to find that my Entourage and iCal calendars are both empty!

Didn't happen here. Maybe your Sync Services Truth was wonky. That happens
all too often, and it likes to look like other things.
