why does office lock up when I import an image?

I recently installed MS office 2003, it's a great application. However,
whene I edit and save an image file in photoshop and try to import it into
any Office applications, my system freezes. I am running a high end Sony
Vaio desktop with windows xp with all updates. 3.og processor 512 meg of
ram. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also photoshop is cs2 with
all available updates. Unaware of when the problem started. I had trouble
opening a saved power point presentation also. It was authored in power
point 2002 and I have been able to open it before. Thanks

Can you open the PowerPoint presentation in safe mode?
Try this:
Slide the acceleration down on your adapter, control panel, display folder, settings
tab, advanced button, troubleshoot tab.
If this solves your issue, go to the manufacturer's web site of your graphics card
and look around for an updated driver.
