Why does power point automatically close?

Whenever I try to play MPG in Power Point 2003 the program encounters an
error and closes prompting me to sens or not send an error report. I can't
figure out why this is happening as the MPG file plays fine in Windows Media
Player. It works fine on my Windows ME machine with power point 97.
