Why is it impossible to stop my SOUND in powerpoint 2003

Pieter

Hi everyone,

I am preparing a music quiz for friday ... .

I did it on my PC (powerpoint 2000) and then transported the quiz to my
portable (powerpoint 2003).

Now : people have to listen to the music items (MP3-files imported in
the powerpoint) and then guess which song it is ... .
But, I click on an icon, and music starts to play. The trouble is : I
cannot stop the song. NOT BY CLICKING ELSEWHERE in the powerpoint,
which should be the standard, default way to stop music. I checked
those settings, and the are OK.

The very weird thing is : some of the music behind some icons can be
stopped by pressing ESC, WITHOUT entering in the powerpoint "work" mode
(=not the presentation mode). Other are stopped also, but my
presentation goes in the powerpoint "work" mode ... what I dont want of
course ... .

Is this a bug in powerpoint ? Can someone help. My quiz is on friday,
and I cannot setup a portable with office2000 anymore ... . Why is 2003
more difficult ... .

Thx in advance ... .

Pieter

Hi everyone,

I have already a partial solution : I downloaded powerpoint viewer 97
which is perfectly able of stopping music by pressing ESC. I can even
have the music playing, while the solution of every song appear
animated.

But very strange this does not work in PPT2003.

How to handle this in PPT 2003 ?

What happens if you insert a button with the sound "Stop Previous Sound"?
You can do this by creating a button, right clicking on the button and
choosing Action Settings. Check the box for Play sound, and choose [Stop
Previous Sound] from the list of choices.
