Why is my Ctrl button not working in Word?

Everything else seems fine. Just the Ctrl button does not work in conjunction
with all the shortcut keys eg. Ctrl+P for Print, etc. Most frustrating as I
use the shortcut keys far more than the icons.

Kind regards,

Hello Kate,

It would seem that the normal.dot file is corrupted. Select Tools\Customise
then click Keyboard. Check a few of the normal shortcuts, for example under
Edit, click on editcopy and see if the ctrl+c are still there. You will need
to replace the normal.dot file if they are there but not working.

In support of Brian's answer:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HP051867041033.aspx?pid=CH060831551033

Like pointed out by Brain, the settings can be done using the Keyboard
settings
but can also be set by using macro's in (for instance normal.dot)

But shortcut keys can also be assigned by other addins through VBA code, you
may not be aware of.

First: look at Brians advise, then check the above website, if this all
fails then repost ...
