Why wont entourage wont automatically download messages?

Good Afternoon,
I have turned on everything to automatically download messages (and no
limit on size of message) but still entourage wont actually
automatically download them. Instead, it simply tells me how many
messages I have then I have to click on each folder and wait for it to
actually download them. This is rather annoying since I have several
accounts and some mail rules that goto different folders so I find
myself having to click several different folders and wait just to find
that half of it is spam that I could have deleted in a second if it
actually had automatically downloaded.

Does anyone know of a fix or a script that could accomplish this?

Thank you in advance,
Jerry

Hi Jerry!

Is this an IMAP account? Do you have Live Sync enabled or disabled in your Account settings?

Yes, sorry I forgot to include that. 2 Imap accounts on my school's
email and on gmail. Both have live sync on.

Thanks,
Jerry

Does anyone have any suggestions? I contacted my school's IT
department who informed me that it was just the way the software works
(which is rather disappointing), and when i tried to contact microsoft
the only way they said I could contact them is by phone for $50/hr
even though it was a flaw in their software.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Jerry

Just because you have Live Sync turned on doesn't mean it will work - the
server must support it.

You can find out if your server supports it by control-clicking on its name
in your folder list and choosing Get Info. In the list of capabilities, look
for IDLE.

Alternately, you can set a create a schedule to check your IMAP accounts
very regularly - as frequently as once a minute. Tools > Schedules.

I checked and GMAIL does have livesync enabled ("IDLE" was in the
info) and it still doesnt seem to automatically download. Im not sure
about my school one, but even if it doesnt have livesync, shouldnt
there be a way to tell it to download. It alerts my immediately that I
have new mail but it wont download it? That doesnt seem to make sense
to me...or atleast shouldnt there be a way to have it do it
periodically? cause ill get an email at night and goto read it in the
morning and have to wait for it to download...

Thanks,
Jerry
