win mail .dat file

My wife had a file sent to her that came as a in
winmail.dat. It is suppose to be a Publisher file.The
friend that sent it to her says she sent to to herself
and if worked okay.I have tried everything that I ca
think of.Anybody have any ideas.

some email clients re-encode attachments and they show up as a dat file.

this is actually a safety feature, and a good one.

I use Stuffit for Windows and it decodes these things without problem.
