I've got Windows 2000 Pro in French version (so system
locale is in "Western European"). And I have Office XP,
thus Outlook XP. We've even got Exchange 2000 SBS.
So, according to what I've read, everything is supposed
to be compatible to Unicode. However, I still find that I
can't have non-Western European (non-WE) characters in
some places within Outlook; neither display or input.
For example, nowhere in the address book could I enter
any non-WE character. Instead, I would just get questions
marks.
When I receive an email, the situation is a bit
better. Message body displays correctly no matter what
encoding is used. But non-WE characters in Subject field
are also simply displayed as question marks. As to From
field, Outlook just simply displays the e-address and
ignores the real name. Without having the Subject field
displayed correctly, it's very annoying and the "Sort"
function is useless.
So, do I miss something in setup or are these known
bugs in Outlook XP or Exchange 2000?
TIA
