Windows login screen --> unread message link not going away (Outlook 2003)

Hello,

I am having a strange problem:

On the login to Windows (XP Prof SP2 applied) screen,
under my name there is a link stating "1 unread mail message"
even though there is no such thing because my "Inbox" is empty.
For my Email I am using Outlook 2003 with the latest updates applied.

I tried to restart the computer several times but this link will not go
away.
Does anyone knows how to get rid of it?
