Word 2000 does not start

Error message: WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in
module MSO9.DLL at 0177:308d0ecc. Also I am unable to
uninstall or reinstall Office because patch for installer
cannot open. Seems I am stuck with no options unless there
is a registry fix. Any ideas?
