Word 2000 Text Box Limit?

What is the upper limit on the number of (unlinked) text boxes in a Word 2000
document?

To put it another way, is anyone aware of a fix or a workaround for Word
2000 program faults that occur when attempting to create a text box.

Symptoms of the necessary conditions for the error include text that
apparently belongs to two different text boxes, i.e., selecting one text box
and typing in it affects the contents of both text boxes. Go figure!

The 'Limits for Word' don't mention any -- so the restriction is presumably
available memory or the 32Mb file size.

Textboxes may be linked so that text flows from one to another. If you have
linked your textboxes (which is possible to do by accident), then typing
text in one will affect the contents of the subsequent ones in the series.
To check if this has happened: right click the textbox border. If it is
linked, the pop-up menu includes 'Next/Previous Text box' options, and other
than on the last in the series 'Break Forward Link'.

And there *is* a limit on the number of *linked* text boxes: that limit is
32.
