Word 2002 Outline Numbering

I am using the built-in heading styles and want to apply
outline numbering.

When I click on the first Heading 1 style and applying a
numbering system that is based on heading styles, it won't
number all of my headings - I didn't think I had to
highlight my whole document.

Can anyone tell me why. It would be much appreciated.

Hi Rob

You need to modify the Heading 1 style so that the style incorporates your
numbering requirement. Then the numbering will be automatically applied to
all paragraphs that are in Heading 1 style.
