word and acrobat icons

Word 2002 and Acrobat 6.0 Standard. The icons
disappeared from Word. I verified the pdfmaker.dot is in
the office startup folder. Word has not been reinstalled
or updated but I reinstalled Adobe today but still no
icons. The Adobe support website does not address this
issue much so I hope someone else has the solution.
