Word as my e-mail editor

In the windows environment, you can use word as your Email editor
(which gives you a lot of cool creative options). Can this be done in the
Mac platform/ How?

Not really, but you can send Word docs as e-mail messages in Office 2004
using File:Send To:E-mail recipient as HTML in Word.
